Man to stand trial next year for murder of 81-year-old

A man accused of murdering 81-year-old Albertina Choules and attacking two police officers in Buckinghamshire is set to stand trial in January.

Tautvydas Narbutas appeared via video link from Woodhill prison at Reading Crown Court, charged with one count of murder.

Albertina had been hit over the head with a blunt instrument and set on fire on the morning of July 6.

Narbutas, of High Wycombe, has also been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after two Thames Valley Police officers were attacked at Mrs Choules' home in Marlow Bottom.

Mrs Choules' family had previously released a statement describing her as an 'incredibly special' woman who was fully self-sufficient and lived without electricity, a television or a washing machine.
