Thousands pay tribute to Bowie at Isle of Wight festival

David Bowie was the star man at this year's Isle of Wight festival as thousands of fans remembered their hero in a moving tribute led by organiser by John Giddings.

Seaclose Park was the singer's last ever live UK show. Today festival-goers donned masks in memory of the hitmaker who passed away in January.

Tonight one of David Bowie's heroes, Pete Townsend, will be headlining the Main Stage with his band 'The Who'. They performed alongside each other at the Isle of Wight Festival in 2004.

Tomorrow 'Queen' who also collaborated with Bowie on their 1982 hit 'Under Pressure' will bring the 2016 festival to a close with Adam Lambert on lead vocals.

In 2004, David Bowie played what was to be his last ever live show in the UK, closing the final night of the Isle of Wight Festival at Seaclose Park, Newport as part of his ‘A Reality Tour’.

Gary Kemp of Spandau Ballet who performed the iconic song said: It was nerve-wracking! I listened to Starman as a 13-yr-old and it was that moment watching it that turned me into a Bowie freak!"
