Two women injured by stampeding cows in Sussex

Two women have been injured by a herd of stampeding cows in a field in East Sussex.

The two women were walking their dogs when they were attacked by cows with calves at heel.

Police were called about the incident in the village of Burwash at around 2.20pm this afternoon.

One woman suffered severe chest injuries and was airlifted to hospital, while the other was left with minor injuries.

The cows were driven into another field while emergency services treated the injured women.
