The owners of the former Manston Airport site have submitted plans to redevelop the area to Thanet District Council.

The Stone Hill Park developers say the project will bring jobs and homes, as well as leisure and community facilities to the area in East Kent.

Under the current plans the former runway will be left in place and incorporated into a park.

Campaigners have called for the airport to be re-opened and flights reinstated.

The owners of the Stone Hill Park site say they have been approached by one group discussing the possibility of re-opening the airport, but that they believe the 'airport is not a sustainable proposition'.
