It might not be marked on the calendar in your kitchen but this week is National Gardening Week, which was launched five years ago by the Royal Horticultural Society. They reckon it's now the country’s biggest celebration of gardening with thousands of people, gardens and charities all getting involved.

Yesterday I was invited to Reading by the charity Thrive, who use gardening to bring about positive changes in the lives of people living with disabilities or ill health, or who are isolated, disadvantaged or vulnerable.

I met up with Jan Broady, who is the Senior Horticultural Therapist and Camilla and Dean, who both use the garden regularly.
