A damp and cold night ahead. Valentine's Day will start cloudy but become brighter in the afternoon but stay cold in the brisk NE wind across Kent, Sussex, Surrey and Essex.

Tonight:Rather cloudy through the evening and overnight with occasional outbreaks of light rain. Easterly winds will be brisk near coasts. Minimum temperature 2 deg C (36 deg F).

Sunday:Another cold day is expected. Patchy light rain during the morning will clear slowly eastwards with some late afternoon bright spells possible. Cold, brisk or strong north-easterly winds. Maximum temperature 6 deg C (43 deg F).

Outlook for Monday to Wednesday:Scattered wintry showers, occasionally bright on Monday. Very cold winds with a sharp frost overnight. Mainly dry and bright on Tuesday and Wednesday with frost Tuesday night. Rain later Wednesday.
