Love is in the air - Dreamliners named after romantic Kent couple
Thomson Airways have revealed the names for their eighth and ninth Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The aircraft will be named as ‘Mr Patmore’ and ‘Mrs Patmore’, after a nationwide search to find the most romantic tale.
Thomson Airways launched the search to find a great love story in the run-up to Valentine’s Day. The married couple, Chris and Hayley Patmore from Ramsgate in Kent, entered the #DreamlinerLove competition by sharing their story via the Thomson Facebook page.
They had the aircraft named after them and received a £1000 holiday voucher, beating off hundreds of entries. Mr and Mrs Patmore’s love story started 22 years ago when they met on holiday with their families in Great Yarmouth when they were both just 13 years old. The pair kept their teenage romance alive by writing to one another, but the teens lost contact after a year. However the sparks flew three years later when they were reunited on the very same holiday. As an added romantic note, several years later, Mrs Patmore viewed an old holiday video of herself as a three-year-old on a swing. She noticed that the little boy on the swing next to her was her future husband - but they weren’t to meet for another 10 years!
