Off-duty PC tackles knifeman in shopping centre

An off-duty policeman's being praised for acting as a human shield when a man with a knife came into a shopping centre.

PC Ian Molineaux was at the cinema with his family when he encountered the man who was brandishing the 12-inch weapon.

It happened in Southend in Essex. The man was threatening people coming into Victoria shopping centre. PC Molineaux stepped in and attempted to stop him from getting out the shopping centre.
