Gatwick named one of Europe's fastest growing airports
Gatwick has been named as one of the fastest growing airports in Europe by the Airport Council International Europe.
The announcement was made following the airports busiest ever January, after 2.5 million passengers travelled through it; a 5.7 per cent increase on 2015, and a 35th consecutive monthly increase in passenger traffic.
Gatwick has also announced 11 new routes for 2016, including flights to Hong Kong and San Francisco, and Chief Executive Stewart Wingate firmly believes the airport is now ready for an expansion.
Mr Wingate also stated how much of an impact being part of the European Union has been for the airport, declaring his support for the UK to stay in the EU.
