Kerry Katona's estranged husband denies assaulting the former signer
The estranged husband of former Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona has denied assaulting her following a row at the couple's home in Sussex.
George Kay, 36, appeared at Hove Crown Court earlier to plead not guilt to an assault charge.
He was charged by Sussex Police with assault by beating and possessing a banned weapon, relating to a Taser-style instrument which was disguised.
His arrest was made after an argument broke out at the couple's home in Crowborough.
Kay, a labourer from Hollybank Moore, Warrington in Cheshire, pleaded not guilty to both charges and will stand trial at either Brighton, Hove or Lewes Crown Courts for up to three days some time from April 25.
Former I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here! and Celebrity Big Brother contestant Katona, 35, who married ex-rugby league player Kay in 2014, is likely to give evidence in the case.
Judge David Rennie freed Kay on bail on condition that he does not contactKatona except via an agreed third party, and does not enter Crowborough.
Asked whether he could go to Crowborough to get his hair cut, the judgereplied: "No, that's slightly daft. You can get your hair cut somewhereelse."
