Rail passengers suffer a day of travel chaos after signal faults
Rail passengers suffered another day of travel chaos after signalling problems on some of the country's busiest routes.
The RMT union called on the Government to act after services were disrupted to and from London Paddington as well as on the Gatwick Express and other services south of the capital.
A fault with the signalling system near London Paddington halted trains between the station and Greenford, while Heathrow Connect services weresuspended.
Another signalling problem at South Croydon caused delays of up to an hour between Purley and East Croydon.
The problem hit Southern services between Tonbridge/Horsham/Reigate and London Victoria and between Bognor Regis/ Brighton/Eastbourne and London Bridge as well as Thameslink trains between Brighton and Bedford/London Bridge.
The RMT said the problems were the latest in a series of signal failures, faulty trains and other issues which have caused travel misery for weeks.
