The 'solution' to Operation Stack is Manston, say council
Serious doubts are being raised about the effectiveness of turning the Manston Airport site into a giant lorry park to ease the chaos caused by Operation Stack.
The Department for Transport says Manston will only be used for lorries bound for ferries at the Port of Dover.
But opponents say that would do little or nothing to help lorries heading for the Eurotunnel terminal at Folkestone, stranded because of migrant disruption at the French end of the Tunnel.
P&O Ferries say they are against the decision saying it will make the traffic worse in Kent.
However, Kent County Council says the solution is Manston - and additional lorry parks off the M20.
