A man has been arrested on suspicion of starting a fire at a hospice in Sussex.

More than 30 people were evacuated from St. Michael's hospice in the early hours of Saturday morning (11 July), including patients. Ten people have been taken to hospital.

One of the residents, a woman, has since died. It is not clear at this stage whether her death is linked to the fire and an investigation is under way.

A 67-year-old St Leonards man, who is known to the hospice, has been detained on suspicion of arson.

Other residents from the hospice are being cared for at three different care homes.
