OK so it's not quite the menacing plant that terrorised the characters in John Wyndham's novel but it's still an impressive growth in Cindy's garden!

If your Alan Titchmarsh gene hasn't kicked in yet, let me fill you in on the details. It's actually a 17 foot Agave flower bud in her garden at Cooden Beach and in a cruel twist of nature the main plant will die following flowering.

Elsewhere in the region and Les in Seaford sent in this photo.

Not the clearest image but that flower at the top had in fact grown up inside the gutter downpipe!

And stretched out it’s this long look...

Elizabeth Wright was mildly alarmed when this popped up in her neighbours garden in Eastbourne.

She says it's almost up to the eaves of the house and she's no idea what it is. So if you happen to know, please drop me a line to meridianweather@itv.com .

Here’s a mystery one from Brian Jackson in Hythe.

He’s had it for two years...it’s now 8 foot tall...and he's no idea what it is!

Feel free to email me at meridianweather@itv.com if you know and that’s his great granddaughter standing next to it by the way!

And finally not that big but it's a huge achievement...

...this sweet pea is the first flower Zoe Borkowski in Rochester has ever grown and it was a team effort with her 7 year old daughter Lucy.

Good work!
