Simon's Blog - Trees That Look Like Other Things

Remember to keep an eye out for them! Credit: Helen Rawles in Blandford

It's that time of the year when the trees start to do interesting things again and I'm not just talking about the sudden growths of buds or blossom.

As the leaves start to come through there are some interesting sights to be had if you're partial to a tree that looks like something else.

Here are just a few of the many that have turned up in my meridianweather@itv.com inbox.

Sharon Smith in North Waltham thinks this one looks like a cat.

I wonder if it's a pussy willow.

Whilst Susan Moxom spotted this one that she reckons looks like a bat.

Sue Manning in Portsmouth found a tree trunk looks like a ducks head.

And Becca Collacott thinks the one on the right at Culham Lock in Oxfordshire looks like a dinosaur.

Meanwhile Ken Rayner thought he’d seen the Loch Ness Monster in the River Dunn in Hungerford.

Turned out to be a tree stump!

Speaking of strange beasts and Alan Britton spotted the shadow of this one on Romney Marsh.

Actually just one of these though.

And finally here's the piece of driftwood Roger Gisby found on his way to work painting the museum cabinets at the Ramsgate tunnels last week.
