A resident was pulled to safety after a smoke alarm alerted neighbours of a blaze .

Fire & Rescue Service crews from Abingdon and Didcot were called to a ground floor flat fire in Abingdon on Friday 27th March 2015.

Smoke was seen coming from the ground floor of a 3 storey block of flats. The resident of the affected flat had been pulled from the premise by a neighbour who had heard the smoke alarm sounding.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus entered the property with a hose reel to investigate and extinguish the fire. The fire was found to have been caused by cooking that had been left unattended on the hob.

The fire was extinguished and the property was ventilated using a positive pressure fan used for clearing any smoke and fumes.

The resident was treated at the scene for smoke inhalation.
