Simon's Blog - Winter Or Spring?

So here we go again then with another Met Office warning of snow and ice.

Wintry showers this evening are expected to fall increasingly as sleet, snow and hail. It may settle in places, more especially on high ground. Then another more persistent spell of rain, sleet and and snow may affect the region during the early hours of Friday morning.

The Met Office say that most areas are unlikely to see large amounts of snow but there's a risk of a couple of centimetres over higher ground. Plus icy stretches are likely to form on untreated surfaces.

So expect slippery conditions and do take care.

But lots of people already on snow patrol.

The Branch Family in Bracknell had a dusting at 3 minutes past 5 this evening.

And Kira Marie in Farnborough tweeted me to say that it started with hail stones...

...then there was a light dusting of snow.

This was the view outside Sarah’s window in Frimley in Surrey.

If there's any snow where you are please send a photo if you can to meridianweather@itv.com or you can tweet me @SimonParkinITV if you're on Twitter.

Now here’s a winter or spring moment from Neil Southwell in Godshill on the Isle of Wight.

Are they the hardiest early daffodils in the region? Not just coping with the frost but one actually defying it!

In other daffodil news...

...and Julia Brooks in Ashford has got another early bloomer.

Meanwhile Sue Harrison in Canterbury is amazed her mimosa has not just appeared early but has also so far survived the frost, ice & cold.

Whilst Peter Smith in Aylesford didn’t expect to see his Camelias looking this good until spring.

And I’m not quite sure what’s growing out of this frosty cone that Sharon Lumber in Aldermarston found...

...but it seems to be doing OK!
