Disruption on the trains for Christmas

Hundreds of thousands of rail passengers using South West Trains face massive disruption over the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Half of Waterloo Station will be closed for engineering work with some lines running into it closed.

It will be some of the most disruptive works the station has ever seen. Services to all parts of the south will be hit with many trains running no further than Basingstoke.

The following trains will run to and from London Waterloo but make additional stops with longer journey times.

Between London Waterloo and Weymouth.

Between London Waterloo and Portsmouth via Haslemere. A reduced train service will run on this route.

Trains between London Waterloo and Basingstoke / Alton will run combined and will divide or join at Woking.

The following services will be altered as shown below and passengers may need to change trains to complete their journeys.

Stopping services to Poole will only run between Winchester and Poole.

Services to Portsmouth via Eastleigh will only run between Basingstoke and Portsmouth Harbour.Services to Salisbury and Exeter willonly run west of Basingstoke.Services to Chessington South will only run between Wimbledon and Chessington South.Services to Guildford via Cobham will only run between Surbiton and Guildford.

Services on these routes will run to anear normal timetable with only minor delays.

Services to Dorking and Guildford via Epsom.Main line suburban services to Hampton Court, Kingston and Shepperton.*Stopping services between London Waterloo and Woking.Suburban services via Twickenham, Hounslow and Staines.Services between London Waterloo, Ascot and Reading.
