Could reshuffle indicate expansion at Manston?

Cabinet reshuffle leads to airport speculation

There is growing speculation tonight that David Cameron's decision to move Justine Greening from her job as Transport Secretary is a clear signal that the Government is rethinking its policy on airport expansion in the south-east.

She was a fierce opponent of plans for a third runway at Heathrow, and many believe her departure makes expansion of Heathrow much more likely. In turn that could kill off the idea of a major new hub airport at** Cliffe *in Kent or in the *Thames Estuary. **

But expansion of Heathrow would not happen for many years...and extra capacity is needed now. An influential new campaign group meeting for the first time tonight a major expansion of Kent International Airport at *Manston is *the sensible interim solution. Tom Savvides reports.
