There is high pressure on students to do well in order to secure places at university. However it has been revealed that there will be many more unfilled places available in the last-minute clearing system for those who do not achieve the results they were hoping for. Applications for university places have dropped by ten percent. Our Social Affairs Correspondent Christine Alsford examines why.
