Hampshire man dies on holiday

It has been revealed that a holidaymaker who died in Jersey was a man from Southampton. Sixty-nine-year-old Peter Scurr fell from the Railway Walk in St Aubin.

A 65-year-old woman who remains in intensive care is due to be flown to Southampton Hospital for more treatment.Police are calling the incident a 'tragic accident'.

It is believed the man and woman slipped on a slippery patch of ground, and fell down a gully while walking in woods on Monday evening near the German tunnels at the St Aubin entrance to the Railway Walk.

Paramedics carried out first aid, the man's injuries were so severe he died at the scene. The woman was lowered from the platform by the Fire Service and taken to hospital. Their next of kin have been informed.

The footpath the couple were walking on has now been closed and St Brelade Honorary police believe it is likely to be closed permanently.
