Flooding: flats in 4ft of water

Firefighters in West Sussex have spent much of the night tackling flooding in homes across the county. West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service reported receiving around 150 callouts overnight.

A rescue centre was set up in the Sportsdome at Littlehampton Swimming Centre for evacuees.

The fire service reported that the hardest hit place was Littlehampton seafront where a number of basement flats were flooded to a depth of up to four feet.
