New research to help dementia sufferers

There are around 100,000 people in our region living with dementia - and that figure is expected to double over the next thirty years. A new poll - commissioned for Dementia Awareness Week - has found 68 per cent of people in the South are worried about the condition that leads to memory loss. But, despite their fears, just 14 per cent want to know more about it. Today, the Prime Minister David Cameron attended a summit with dementia specialists where he announced a new 30 million pound research programme into managing and treating dementia symptoms. Amber Read has been talking to us from Alzheimers UK.
