Region in 'drought status'

The whole of the Meridian region is now in what is classed as 'drought status'.

The decision to declare a drought was taken in the east of our region last month. Today the Environment Agency confirmed Dorset, parts of the New Forest in Hampshire and most of Wiltshire are now also affected.

No additional hosepipe bans will be introduced to the ones already in place, but water companies are urging people to save where they can. Richard Jones reports.
