Halifax played a key role in recovering Titanic survivors and victims

The story of the Titanic and the tragedy that befell her and her passengers and crew have become part of maritime history. Many people are fascinated by what happened, the events leading up to the disaster, and the events that followed.

There are many place with Titanic links - Southampton - the ship's departure port and the home of many of her crew; New York - the liner's destination; Belfast in Northern Ireland where the liner was built; and Halifax in Canada - the final resting place of many of the bodies recovered from the disaster.

Lynn Ledwidge, the Director of Marketing for Destination Halifax spoke to Mike Pearse about how the town's Titanic links have boosted its tourism numbers.
