This is the rogue wave that nearly claimed the life of round the world yachtswoman Jane Hitchens. The former Kent GP suffered serious chest injuries when the colossal wave struck 400 miles off the Californian coast on Saturday. Today - after 48 hours stranded in the Pacific, struggling to breathe with four suspected broken ribs, she and her injured crewmates were rescued by the US coastguard. Our report is by John Ryall.
