New bridge still shut to traffic

New Twin Sails bridge is closed to traffic

The Twin Sails Bridge was planned for thirty years - and cost forty million pounds to build but the structure in Poole, in Dorset, is still not open to traffic, twelve days after completion.

All of the tarmac has now been removed after cracks appeared and parts began to fall off.

The bridge is the town's second harbour crossing and was designed to ease congestion between Hamworthy and the town centre. Martin Dowse reports on what's gone wrong with the troubled bridge.
