Police seek witnesses after fatal crash

Police are appealing for witnesses following a crash in which 20-year-old motorcyclist died.

Marcus Lowbridge was travelling northbound along Hunts Pond Road, Locks Heath on his black Suzuki GSX-R 600 at 8.20pm on Saturday when he was in collision with a blue Nissan Micra.

Mr Lowbridge, from Ilex Crescent, Locks Heath, sustained life threatening injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 10pm.

The driver of the Micra, a 56-year-old woman from Locks Heath, was uninjured.

She was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving and has been bailed until May 20, pending further enquiries.

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or who saw either vehicle just prior to it, to call PC Rob Giles at Fratton Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting Operation Katrina.
