Push the button - bridge opens

The new Twin Sails Bridge in Poole has cost almost forty million pounds and is a stunning piece of engineering. An opening ceremony took place on Friday evening. Pedestrians took to the bridge which is not yet ready for motorists.

On Monday 12th March, The Princess Royal, Princess Anne will pay the first official royal visit to the new structure. She will press the button to operate the world class bridge, before attending a reception on HMS Cattistock at Poole Quay.

The Mayor of Poole, Cllr Graham Wilson said: "I am thrilled that local residents have the chance to be part of one of the largest celebrations in Poole's recent history,"
