Passengers on trains using the Channel Tunnel should soon get phone signals below ground

At present there is ano reception on the deep sea underground route between Folkestone in Kent and Calais in France.

A French technology group has found a way of connecting the tunnel to mobile phone networks so passengers can receive a signal 250 feet under the sea bed.

The French Ministry for Technology is expected to announce the plans on Tuesday. The system should go live in July in time for the Olympics.
