When the iconic West London restaurant the Tiroler Hut burnt down on Monday it's owner and regulars were heartbroken.

For more than fifty years it offered Austrian food and live music to diners on Westbourne Grove.

Today the local community rallied around its owner Josef Friedman on his 81st birthday.

Thousands of pounds have been raised through a crowdfunding page to secure the institution's future.

"It's told us, as a family, that people are really invested- not only in the memories they have of it, but also in it having a future. So that's been hugely important to us."
