The Great River Race has kicked off from London Docklands and is expected to reach Richmond by 3.30pm.
It is described as "London's River Marathon" and a "spectacular boat race2 attracting more than s over 330 crews from all over the globe.
The Great River Race includes serious athletes who like winning, to those who enjoy laughter, fancy dress and charity stunts.
The unlicensed events unfolded on Saturday night at Clapham Common and Tooting Bec Common.
