Man murdered in Whitechapel on New Year's Day
Emergency services were called to reports that a man had suffered a serious head injury in Sidney Street in Whitechapel shortly after 1.30am. The 43-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two arrested over New Year's murder in Whitechapel
Two people have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in the early hours of New Year's Day. Emergency services were called to reports that a man had suffered a serious head injury in Sidney Street in Whitechapel shortly after 1.30am. The 43-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 34-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody. A special post-mortem examination, due to the victim's head injury, is due to take place at Poplar Mortuary today. The victim has not been formally identified but next of kin have been informed.
