Five musicians in the West End production of War Horse have failed to win an order preventing the National Theatre replacing them with a pre-recorded soundtrack.

Neyire Ashworth, Andrew Callard, Jonathan Eddie, David Holt and Colin Rae were all made redundant from the show's New London Theatre run last month after their contracts were terminated, and had requested a temporary order preserving their employment until the case could be tried.

However, Mr Justice Cranston said he was not going to grant the group a temporary injunction during the hearing at London's High Court.
