Buskers are "incredibly important for the cultural richness" of London, Boris Johnson said today as he launched a new campaign to support musicians across the capital.
"I was cycling home last night and I heard the strings of 'Hotel California' being played across London Bridge by this guy with an electric guitar and it was magical, truly magical and I think it lifts the city," the mayor added.
The unlicensed events unfolded on Saturday night at Clapham Common and Tooting Bec Common.
