'Suspicious' Islamic centre fire

A Somali Islamic community centre has partially collapsed after a fire police are treating as suspicious.

Over 30 firefighters were called to the Somalian Islamic Bravanese Welfare Centre in Muswell Hill in the early hours of 5th June.

Police working with community after Islamic centre fire

Police say they are working with the Somali and Islamic communities following a fire which caused extensive damage to a Somali Islamic centre in north London.

The cause of the blaze, which happened at 3.23 am on 5th June in Muswell Hill, is being treated as suspicious and the scene remains cordoned off.

"I have spoken to community leaders and assured them that a thorough investigation is being conducted.

"The safety of our communities is always our priority and we are consulting widely, offering our support and reassurance.All communities can be confident that they have our support and I can be contacted personally to answer their concerns."

Police added that are have been no arrests so far but urge anyone with information to come forward.
