Hotel swimming pool deaths
Detectives are investigating the deaths of two guests at a hotel, at Hatfield Heath near Bishop's Stortford. A man and woman were discovered under water in the hotel's swimming pool.
Couple drowned, say police
A man and woman found dead in a swimming pool at a country hotel both drowned, police said.
The bodies of the pair, a man in his early 30s and a woman in her early 20s from the London area, were discovered at the Down Hall Country House Hotel in Hatfield Heath, Essex, on Saturday evening.
Essex Police said that a provisional post-mortem examination found that their deaths were consistent with drowning.
A spokesman added: "Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to their deaths but are treating them as non-suspicious.
"Further routine tests will be undertaken and a report will be prepared for the HM Coroner's inquest hearing."
The couple will not be identified until the inquest into their deaths is opened, he added.
