Jack Phillips' part on the Titanic
A man began his life in Godalming, but died in the freezing waters of the Atlantic - a radio operator on 'Titanic' which sank one hundred years ago this weekend.
The history books tell us that Jack Phillips' part in the sinking is not a glorious one: after another ship warned icebergs had been seen in the area, it's thought Phillips never relayed the messages to the captain.
But Phil Bayles reports now on why his home town remembers Jack Phillips as a local hero.
