Arsenal 'buzzing' after Alexis Sanchez signing

Alexis Sanchez's arrival has left the Arsenal squad "buzzing" ahead of the new campaign, according to defender Carl Jenkinson - with more new signings expected before the Community Shield against Manchester City at Wembley.

Arsenal moved swiftly to close out the transfer of Chile forward Sanchez in what is said to be a £30 million deal from Barcelona. Jenkinson believes he can help the FA Cup winners target more success: "He is world class and they are the sort of players you want to see at the club.

"The squad are buzzing as much as the fans, because if you are going to push on as a club and really compete for things, you need to sign top players," Jenkinson said on www.Arsenal.com.

Sanchez: Wenger's style of play 'like Chile's team'

Alexis Sanchez has said he is "certainly glad" to be the first Chilean ever to play for Arsenal, after it was announced that the Barcelona player had signed with the club.

Speaking to Arsenal.com, Sanchez said: "Arsène Wenger´s style of play is the sort of style the Chilean national team has. Therefore I am used to it. Arsenal plays very well, which fits my style. That's why I moved here.

"I am definitely looking forward to playing there. Every child dreams to play in a ground like Emirates Stadium."

Former England cricketer Phil Tufnell was among a host of stars praising Arsenal's signing of Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona. Actor Will Poulter and comedian Alan Davies said they were "so happy" that the Chile international striker had agreed to join the club on a long-term contract.

Chile international striker Alexis Sanchez has agreed to join Arsenal Football Club on a long-term contract.

Sanchez has just returned from the World Cup in Brazil, where he scored two goals in four appearances.

Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger said: “As many people have seen during the World Cup this summer, Alexis is a fantastic footballer and we are delighted that he is joining us at Arsenal Football Club."

It is expected that Sanchez will make his first Arsenal appearance at the Emirates Cup, which takes place at Emirates Stadium on Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3.

Arsenal are edging closer to signing 25-year-old Chile striker, Alexis Sanchez.The North London team have put in a £32 million pound bid with Barcelona and are hoping to seal the deal within the next 48 hours.

However, this sale may well be dependent on the Spanish team acquiring Liverpool's top striker, Luis Suarez.
