A teenager accused of stabbing a youth to death in north London on his 16th birthday has denied murder.

The 15-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of killing Derek Boateng while he was on a crowded single-decker bus near Highbury New Park.

Appearing at the Old Bailey, the youth, from Romford in Essex, pleaded not guilty to one count of murder.

A 15-year-old boy is due to appear in court today, charged with the murder of Derek Boateng. The 16-year-old schoolboy from Hackney was celebrating his Birthday on the day he was stabbed on a 393 bus in Highbury New Park.

He was treated on the scene before being airlifted to hospital where he died on Wednesday from multiple knife wounds.

It's been revealed that a teenager who was stabbed on a bus in north London on Tuesday had been celebrating his 16th birthday.

Derek Boateng was fatally injured in the attack at Highbury New Park.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at a north London police station.

A 15 year old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder - after a teenager was stabbed on a bus in Highbury. The attack took place yesterday afternoon at Highbury New Park on the 393 bus route. The 16 year old victim is still in a critical condition in hospital.
