School Mourn Dead Schoolgirl

Local Pastor, Delroy Powell, told ITV London how he offered support to those at Imani's primary school.

Children at a primary school in Tooting are being comforted today over the death of Imani Green, who was one of their classmates. Eight-year-old Imani was shot dead while on holiday in Jamaica. Ronke Phillips visited the school.

Head techer of Fircroft Primary School in Tooting, Anne Wilson, speaks of the pain felt by everybody at the school, pupils and adults alike, after hearing that Imani Green had been killed.

Ronke Phillips from ITV News London visited Fircroft Primary School in Tooting, where Imani Green was taught before she was killed during a family visit to Jamaica.

There she spoke to head teacher, Anne Wilson, who said: "She was a special little girl who was popular with staff and pupils alike."

She continued: "The school had given her special permission to travel to Jamaica because of her condition (Sickle Cell Anemia.) So the news was doubly tragic because she had gone there in an attempt to benefit her health."

This morning there was a special assembly at the school, where Reverand Andrew Davey from the local Holy Trinity Church, spoke to the children.

All the pupils from the school are being offered special counselling if they feel that they need it.

Neighbours said members of the girl's family left their home at Old Hospital Close for a flight to Jamaica early this morning to be with Imani's mother.

A man who answered the door at the three-storey property where the girl lived, declined to speak to the press today.

Imani Green, the eight year old girl shot dead in Jamaica has been described by her uncle Mitcham Brown as a "quiet, lovely, friendly girl" who had only just begun to grow in confidence.

Mr Brown explained how Imani had sickle cell anaemia as well as a hole in her heart.

He said she would travel to Jamaica every winter with her family because the warm weather helped with her condition.
