Martin Freeman as Bilbo Baggins

They'vewaited almost a decade and now fans of Middle Earth are just hours away from their next fix of Wizards, trolls and (of course) Hobbits!

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Adventure is the highly-anticipated prequel to the Lord of The Rings trilogy and premieres in Leicester Square this evening ahead of its UK release tomorrow.

Unlike it's predecessors this film is in 3D. Director Peter Jackson also uses a 48 frames per second format which has divided the critics.

We'll be live on the red carpet with London actor Martin Freeman who plays the lead character Bilbo Baggins. The rest of the cast will also be braving the cold, including Sir Ian McKellan, Andy Serkis and Cate Blanchett who are back as Gandalf, Gollum and Galadriel, respectively.

You can see this exclusive look into the mind of the man behind Bilbo on our programme from 6pm tonight.

The Duchess of Cambridge will not be attending the UK Premiere of "The Hobbit" tonight, as she is still recovering from acute morning sickness.

Her husband William, however, is expected to walk the red carpet in Leicester Square with the stars of the film, including Martin Freeman, Sir Ian McKellen and Cate Blanchett.
