An investigation has begun after a policewoman collapsed and died on duty in Camden. Detective Constable Adele Cashman, who was 30, died at the Royal Free Hospital after collapsing in Belsize Park Gardens.

Thefts charges for death-chase teens

Two teenagers chased by a female detective who collapsed and died during the pursuit have been charged with theft.

The 17-year-old boys will appear at Highbury Corner Youth Court next Wednesday accused of snatching a mobile phone from a 59-year-old woman in Haverstock Hill, north London.

Met boss pays tribute to dead officer

The Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Bernard Hogan-Howe, has paid tribute to an officer who died on duty.

Detective Constable Adele Cashman was chasing after two suspected thieves in North London when she collapsed.

Cashman death: Suspects remain in custody

Met police said that a second 17-year-old youth was arrested near the junction of Belsize Grove. A phone was recovered too.

The suspects remain in custody at north and central London police stations.

It appears that during the chase, DC Adele Cashman collapsed in Belsize Park Gardens, NW3.

London Ambulance Service took Adele to the Royal Free Hospital, but she died at 11.10pm.

Her family has been informed and enquiries continue into the circumstances of her death.

Adele joined the Metropolitan Police in 2006 and was stationed at Wandsworth Borough, where she worked as a PC. She transferred to Camden in 2010 as a Detective Constable.

A post-mortem examination will take place on 6th November.

Tributes paid to officer who died on duty in Camden

Tributes have been paid to a "much loved and wholly dedicated" police officer, DC Adele Cashman, who died on duty in Camden.

Met police said that at 9.31pm on Monday 5th November, a 59-year-old woman had her smartphone snatched out of her hand in Haverstock Hill, NW3.

Two male suspects ran off and the victim started to chase them.

Uniformed officers were on duty in the area at the time and saw the chase. They too chased the suspects and requested further officers to assist.

MPS officers from Camden's Crime Squad also attended.

The Crime Squad officers saw a suspect in Belsize Park Gardens. The suspect ran off and two officers, including Detective Constable Adele Cashman, gave chase.

A 17-year-old suspect was arrested at the junction of Belsize Grove by one of these officers.
