Year 12 student fighting for life after being stabbed near sixth form college

A student is fighting for life after being stabbed near Shooters Hill Sixth Form College in south east London.

Students at the college in Woolwich were told to stay at home following the attack on Monday.

The victim was taken to hospital after being attacked on Prince Imperial Road. He remains in a critical condition.

Shooters Hill Sixth Form College said that the young man is one of their Year 12 students.

Principal Geoff Osborne said: “At approximately 4.20pm yesterday in Prince Imperial Road close to the college a young man who is in Year 12 at Shooters Hill Sixth Form was stabbed.

“This incident continues to be investigated by the police, and we are not in a position to release more details other than that the young man is receiving medical care for his injuries.

“The college is offering support and counselling to anyone who has been affected by the incident. Our thoughts are with the family and the victim, and we ask that everyone respects their privacy at this difficult time.”A note on the sixth form college’s website says that parents, students and careers will be updated via text messages.

Students sitting exams should arrive as normal.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police Service said: "Police were called at approximately 4.20pm on Monday, January 6 to reports of a stabbing in Prince Imperial Road. Officers responded to the scene and found an 18-year-old man suffering from stab wounds.

"He was treated at the location before being transported to hospital, where he remains in a critical condition. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.
