Brentford fire: Man dies, two injured, after fire destroys house in West London

A woman has died after a huge fire destroyed a house in West London, prompting emergency services to close roads in Hounslow.

Two other women were injured in the blaze and emergency services are trying to establish the cause.

The fire started at a home on Netley Road, just off Ealing Road, Brentford at 4.03pm this afternoon, and it took over more than two hours for the fire brigade to put it out. Around 65 firefighters were on the scene dealing with the blaze and eight fire engines were in attendance.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: "Officers were called at about 4.05pm on Sunday, November 13 to reports of a fire inside a flat on Netley Road in Brentford. Emergency services are in attendance.

"Three people were treated by the London Ambulance Service. Despite the efforts of paramedics, one person was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two people have been taken to hospital; we await an update on their condition. A number of neighbouring properties have been evacuated."

A spokesperson from the London Fire Brigade said: "The house is was a two-floor building and was severely damaged. One woman left before fire services arrived and was taken to hospital.

"Another woman was rescued from the first-floor bedroom by firefighters in breathing apparatus and was taken to the hospital. The fire was under control by 6.39pm, the cause of the fire is under investigation."
