London stars speak out about diversity in the arts
The Bafta TV awards may be taking place a little later this year, and fully online, rather than at the Royal Festival Hall, but there's still plenty of awards to be handed out to a whole host of talented actors.
Idris Elba will receive a Bafta special award for his creative contribution to television and his work promoting diversity and new talent in the industry. The award is one of the academy's highest honours and previous recipients include sports commentator John Motson, comedian Sir Lenny Henry and presenter Cilla Black.
Recalling his first acting role, the Hackney born star isn't ashamed of his humble beginnings in the industry: in a reconstruction on Crimewatch.
Actress and former Labour MP for Hampstead and Highgate Glenda Jackson has been nominated for Best Actress for her role in drama 'Elizabeth Is Missing'. She's spoken out about the need for greater equality for women in the industry. The two time Oscar winner has said the arts are lagging behind in offering equal roles for women.
