There was a sigh of relief for London’s theatre and live music venues after the government announced a bailout for the arts. A rescue package of £1.57 billion is being made available to organisations across the UK.

Part of that will go towards helping some of the 790,000 Londoners employed in the culture and creative arts, with sites including London’s famous Royal Albert Hall among the first to receive funding.

The government says the money is to help venues stay afloat while their doors are closed.

Craig Hassall, the CEO of the Royal Albert Hall and Kwame Kwei-Armah, the Artistic Director of the Young Vic spoke to Charlene White about their relief after “months of living a nightmare”.
