Chelsea win Women's Super League
Chelsea Women FC have been awarded the WSL title by the FA after the 2019/2020 season was abandoned at the end of March due to the coronavirus pandemic. At the time play was stopped there were 45 games still outstanding across the whole league.
The FA board reached a majority decision on who would be crowned the winner by using a point per game system. Chelsea were a point behind leaders Manchester City but with a game in hand the blues were given the title. The decision also means that Chelsea finish their season unbeaten. Captain Magda Ericsson posted a quick message of thanks to all the fans who have supported the side so far.
Both Chelsea and Manchester City will to go forward for the 2020/2021 Champions league season- the start date for which is yet to be determined along with any decision about when the new Women’s Super League season will begin.
