'This is not a drill!' NHS medical worker urges Londoners to stay home unless 'absolutely essential to leave'

An NHS medical worker on the frontline in the fight against coronavirus urged Londoners to stay home unless it was 'absolutely essential to leave'.

Anaesthetist Tom Dolphin said the health service was at risk of being overwhelmed if people failed to listen to government advice.

Mr Dolphin, who works in central London, said it was essential the NHS had the capacity to deliver the care people needed.

Hospital staff have been personally affected by the virus too and some people are "quite seriously ill", Mr Dolphin added.
