Nightmare journey home as signal failure paralyses major London rail route
Thousands of commuters were tonight facing a nightmare journey home after signal failure paralysed a major London rail route.
All signals at East Croydon, south London switched to red at the start of the evening rush hour.
Rail bosses at Thameslink, Southern and Gatwick Express said 'significant disruption' would affect trains for the rest of the day.
Services in and out of London Bridge and Victoria ground to a halt when the signals failed at around 4.20pm.
Thameslink services north of the river were also hit with passengers using twitter to say their trains were not moving.
